Day 1 - Tear it up

And were there tears? Well, there might have been if I had not been in Philly at an awesome tech conference. On day one of our renovations, plants were found growing in the walls and a nest of freshly hatched birds...also living in the walls.

The room on this part of the house has leaked for...well who knows how long. Our contractor is replacing part of the roof, some wall, and all the windows as it's all rotten.

So...yeah...rotten, rotten, rotten...

The plant growing in a wall.

Adventures in Roofing...

Notice the hole? The one I circled in bright green? One of the roofers fell through that hole. Luckily we anticipated a totally rotten roof.

And the tree guys....

This is just the beginning of a very large tree removal project.

There will be a LOT of mulch. So much mulch.

So many things are happening at once. It's a little like a circus. BUT, after so many months of just STARING at the property while it was under contract, after so many months of Bill searching for contractors, getting estimates, getting certificates of insurance, etc, it's so wonderful to see things happening. So many things. Sometimes it feels like not enough things are happening fast enough, but we've literally owned the house for 6 days at this point. Six. Days.
