The precedent study is based on a riverside/ boardwalk activity at an urban area in Malaysia or overseas. Students are to study in detail the space planning and design elements of the building/ linkages, discuss the interesting features of this development and demonstrate the understanding of architectural elements, environmental factors or the existing site context that contribute to the success/failure of the design.
This project is about a precedent study done on the Prague, the capital city of Czech Republic. One of the finest cities we have ever researched on due to the city’s medieval core remains intact. The whole thing was about urban infill and this city portrays it well enough due to the existence of quite a few projects like the Dancing House, Prague Castle, Charles Bridge and Astronomical Clock that we did a study on. Another interesting part of the city of how they implement the concept of a walkable city by paving the pedestrian pathway along the city and decrease the number of parkings in some area to bring people there by walking
This project is focusing on the Digital Sports Centre where the concept is about movement or other words for it is locomotion. This concept is clearly seen on how the architecture is easily accessible from all four of its sides by the opening purposedly left. The existing of stairs all around the building also allow people to access the first floor anyhow they want. The question is why movement? This is because based on my precedent study on some common sports centre and some digital sports centre that are very few of them, the movements in them are very limited and probably just a one way trip. So to create an interesting part in a building is always on how we play with the circulat ion of the users. They should be able to go here and there to experience the fun provided fully.
