Burung kenyalang (Inspiration)
As the state bird of Sarawak, Burung Kenyalang has been worship by the Dayak community as it bring luck, charm and battle spirit to the locals. In this garment design, both Dayak and Chinese culture has been put into consideration as it symbolizes Sarawak and my own identity. By using abstract and direct translation of form and shape, this garment will be focus more onto aesthetic while still maintain some element to against Covid 19. This garment can be worn to a festival events, but it is advised to take off the capes for intensive activity.
To be destinated in India street, Kuching. This kiosk futured dynamic shape that derived from the previous garment project. Forming a connection of relationship between the garment and the kiosk itself. Vertical elements also has been added to the kiosk, to introduce the forest atmosphere, amplifying the story of the garment origin.
Inspired from the history of India Street, tensile structure has been used for this design to remind the popularity of fabric and textile selling in the India Street. The "kaki lima" of the existing shop house also inspired the wooden frame structure design which buffer the zone from the kaki lima to the kiosk. Thus, forming a form connection from the old to the new one.
Unlike regular bus stop, "Garden Stop" feature the optimize functionality of nature to provide cover and introducing some landscaping for beautification to the surrounding. By using organic shape and form inspired form a covering hand posture, it created a harmonious environment for the users to wait for bus, chatting or even playing chess
