"Ngelaban Kobid"
My social distancing garment is inspired from the way the Iban people speak. The dress shows geometric shapes on top to represent that the Ibans may sound harsh at first when we talk to them. Then we will understand after some time that this is just their culture and they are actually friendly which is represented by the tulle at the bottom of the dress which is more organic and less rigid. The belt is inspired from the belt of the Ngepan Iban. The Dayak Sun Hat that is used by the natives to protect themselves from the weather when they are in the field is the inspiration for my social distancing hat to indicate protection. The gloves are for extra protection when touching things and the tips can flip so we can unlock our phones if we use fingerprint detection because the screen cannot detect our fingers through gloves. The Kirep Bulu Arang is for extra social distancing because the hat will only work against tall people. Therefore, these keep people who are shorter than the hat away. The Iban armlet is inspiration for my sneeze sleeve which prompts people to sneeze into their elbow instead of their hands.
