The idea of this garment are inspired by the shape of terendak Melanau, the layering of Penan hut, the pattern of bakul Sarawak and the shape of Barok roof. Given the name ‘Bajo Gatong’ which means baju gantung in Bahasa Melanau, the idea of the name specifically comes from bakul Ajat which need to be attached with two fastening straps to be hung on both shoulders, just like how the structure of this garment works.
Kakemono is design as a display kiosk for Bajo Gatong from the previous project which also means ‘hanging thing’ in Japan. The different proportion of bajo gatong are applied in the kiosk in terms of the different size of the curve and different hierarchy for different space function. The design maintaining the repetition and negative space of triangle shape to resemble bakul Chantong pattern.
Pinnate is a 20 sqm bus stop designed for the user of MBKS bus stop. The meaning of pinnate is a compound of leaf with primary divisions arranged on each side of common stalk. The concept of pinnate is about the repetition of layers of the modules with an interlace order to create rhythm. A modular design is applied for this bus stop, which consists of six different space function.
