The precedent study is based on a riverside/ boardwalk activity at an urban area in Malaysia or overseas. Students are to study in detail the space planning and design elements of the building/ linkages, discuss the interesting features of this development and demonstrate the understanding of architectural elements, environmental factors or the existing site context that contribute to the success/failure of the design.
The overall design concept chosen for this project 2 masterplan is “Biophilic design”. Therefore, I have decided to emphasise the main concept into the transportation hub design. One of the requirements for the design of Site B is a docking area for sea vessels. To compete with the close by waterfront tourist spot, I have designed a grand port for various activities. This encourages visitors to come to the site and enjoy the environment and scenery and gives the site a chance to attract visitors from the waterfront.
This project’s objectives are to design a digital sports centre that is suitable to the site context and demographics. The design concept I have chosen for the project is ‘Healthy Competition’. The programmes on site are varied and all have emphasis on competition. For example, the racing track and basketball court. The building is also design in a way that makes sure that all activities are interconnected with each other to increase the motivation of the occupants of the building.
