The precedent study is based on a riverside/ boardwalk activity at an urban area in Malaysia or overseas. Students are to study in detail the space planning and design elements of the building/ linkages, discuss the interesting features of this development and demonstrate the understanding of architectural elements, environmental factors or the existing site context that contribute to the success/failure of the design.
Youth
With the aim of inviting more youth in order to revive the site, each site targets different age group, starting from site A, which was designed for younger children, providing activities outside by the riverside, where children are encouraged to join in the fun by the park and rollerblading area. Within the shophouse, is an ice cream shop situated beneath a small library, designed for less active children who would rather enjoy quiet time inside, and a playroom on the very top floor.
This building was designed with the intention of incorporating both a sports centre for youth to enjoy, together with a space for them to relax their eyes when taking a break from facing their digital screens. To do that, there are voids within the sports centre where landscaping and greenery is placed on, together with an open indoor courtyard available for view from various rooms inside the centre.
