The design of my garment was inspired by the hornbill and pitcher plant. The colours of these elements had eventually become the colour scheme of the garment. It was made by using the corrugated board and aluminium plate as the bone, while colour papers were used as the skin. Generally, the body parts were inspired by hornbill's wings and tail, thus it is mainly black and white in its colour. On the other hand, the upper parts and lower parts were inspired by the pitcher plant, thus it is mainly green in colour. Besides, the lid of the pitcher plant had eventually extracted to form a headcover. Other than that, the shoulder part was inspired by the peristome of the pitcher plant, which incorporates the headcover to representing the pitcher plant. Horns also being introduced to representing hornbills. Lastly, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a mask also being designed by using the colour scheme of the hornbill.
The kiosk is designed based on the garment from project 1.
The head cover of the garment was developed into inverted L shape roof structure with zigzag walls. Besides, the neck part of the garment which inspired from pitcher plant’s peristome had been developed into a cylindrical fitting room. Other than that, the layered mask was developed into layered walls. Lastly, the colour scheme of the body part of the garment had contributed to the main colour (black and white) of the kiosk.
The roof only covered minor part of the kiosk as the site already covered by roof. In addition, the zigzag walls and layered walls enable people to slightly look into the interior of the kiosk at certain angle. The purpose of the roof and the walls were to attract people attention to entering the kiosk.
The design of my bus stop is inspired by precedent study (KNG Bus Station) and nature (tree). Concrete column extract from precedent study is use as main support while “tree” structure is the secondary support for the roof. Greenery is introduced to soften and cool down the dry and hard appearance of the bare concrete. In addition, the planter box is designed to serve as seating area to create seating within greenery. Planter box also being designed to create a space for rubbish bin placement. By considering the lighting within the bus stop, lighting with sensor is introduced to enable the light turn on and off automatically depend on the surrounding. Beside, potted plants are hang at the interior side of the concrete column for decoration purposes. Lastly, the floor level is designed to be the same as pedestrian walkway to provide easy access for wheelchair people.
