WRITER - ESCRITORA

She’s a Finnish writer who studied literature and later, dramatic art. She was born in Jyvaskyla on 17th January, 1977.

His father was an electrician and his mother an Estonian engineer who arrived in Finland in 1970.

She was very active in meetings and opinions with groups.

She identifies herself as bisexual and admittted that she had eating disorders.

Some of her works are:

Stalin Cows, book she wrote in 2003 that deals with three women, three generations of the history of a Europe divided between East and West, hunger and bulimia.

In 2006, she wrote the historical novel PURGA, translated in 38 languages. It is the story of two women who relive their dark pasts, the struggle and resistance to sexual violence.

Sofi Oksanen presented in 2012 her work When the Pigeons Fell to the Sky, set in occupied Estonia during the Second World War.

In 2013 Sofi was awarded the Nordic prize from the Swedish Academy, being the first woman to obtain it.
