Sarah Polley is a Canadian actress, writer, director, producer and political activist. She appeared in a Disney film at the age of four. She also played a role in the famous Canadian television series Road to Avonlea. She has starred in many films, including Exotica (1994), The Sweet Hereafter (1997), Guinevere (1999), The Weight of Water (2000), My Life Without Me (2003), Dawn of the Dead (2004) or Mr. Nobody (2009).

Polley has also directed films and wrote the miniseries Alias Grace, based on the 1996 novel of the same name by Margaret Atwood.

She has performed sensitive portraits of wounded and conflicted young women in independent films. She makes films with social importance.

She is well-known in Canada for her political and social activism.
