LEYMAN GBONEE

La L es de Leymah Gbowee, (Liberia, 1972) una activista y feminista que con la ayuda de otras mujeres acabó con la Segunda Guerra civil liberiana.  Lo hizo manifestándose de forma pacífica en un mercado de pescado vistiendo con ropas blancas para simbolizar la Paz. Fue tanto su importancia que se convirtió en una pieza clave del nombramiento de la primera mujer presidente de una nación en toda África.

Leymah Gbowee (Liberia, 1972) is a Liberian peace activist responsible for leading a women's nonviolent peace movement, Women of Liberia Mass Action for Peace that helped bring an end to the Second Liberian Civil War in 2003. Her efforts to end the war, along with her collaborator Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, helped usher in a period of peace and enabled a free election in 2005 that Sirleaf won. Gbowee and Sirleaf, along with Tawakkul Karman, were awarded the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize "for their non-violent struggle for the safety of women and for women's rights to full participation in peace-building work."

Leymah Gbowee (Liberia, 1972) est une militante et une féministe qui, avec l'aide d'autres femmes, a mis fin à la deuxième guerre civile au Liberia.  Elle y est parvenue en manifestant pacifiquement dans un marché, habillée en blanc pour symboliser la paix. Son importance a été telle qu'elle a joué un rôle clé dans la nomination de la première femme présidente d'une nation dans toute l'Afrique.
