RACHEL ZIMMERMAN

SCIENTIST

RACHEL ZIMMERMAN (1972)

Zimmerman was born in London (Canada). She's a scientist and a spatial inventor.

When she was twelve years old, she invented a printer for disabled users.

They can choose various symbols to communicate their thoughts and the printer translates those images to written text.

She has received a lot of awards for her achivements. The most important was Visionary Exhibition at cinema and TV female in the International Festival of Toronto.

She studied physics at Brandeis University.

Now she works in High Propulsion Laboratory from NASA, where she tries to adapt NASA innovations to the needs of people with disabilities.

Rachel also organises professional development workshops for teachers at the National Science Teachers Association and annual conferences. From 2013 to 2016, Rachel was president of Science Education for Students with Disabilities.
