Habitat:

  • Hard - Adults are found in shallow rocky shores to 6 m, usually coated withe algae.

Water column position:

  • Benthic

Colors & patterns:

  • Three dorsal fins, first ray of second dorsal fin very elongate, unites to the second ray by a membrane.

  • Body has a beige-grey-brown color.

  • Females in breeding season - last dark bar has the same aspects and colors as the others.

  • Breeding males - Black head, entirely red body.

  • Homing behavior
