  • Hard - rocky, sandy, or gravel covered substrate
  • Light vegetation

  • Benthic

Colors & patterns:

  • Background color beige with 7-8 dark vertical broken bars
  • Usually with a dark spot at the beginning of the dorsal fin
  • Tentacles long with delicate thread-like filaments above the eye, branched only on the posterior edge
  • Dorsal fin without a notch in the middle

Behavior:

  • Cryptic, hides in crevices
  • Diurnal
  • Shy
  • Territorial males guards egg mass laid by several females

Schooling characteristics:

  • Solitary
