- Background color beige with 7-8 dark vertical broken bars
- Usually with a dark spot at the beginning of the dorsal fin
- Tentacles long with delicate thread-like filaments above the eye, branched only on the posterior edge
- Dorsal fin without a notch in the middle

- Cryptic, hides in crevices
- Diurnal
- Shy
- Territorial males guards egg mass laid by several females
