1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
3 1/2 c. cake flour (I use bread flour for everything!)
8 oz. chopped dates
1 c. chopped pecans
1 lb. orange slice candies, cut into small pieces
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 t. soda, dissolved in milk
Glaze
1 c. orange juice
2 c. powdered sugar
Cream butter and sugar with mixer, then add eggs, one at a time.
Fold nuts, candy, and dates into the flour.
Add the mixture to the butter and sugar mixture.
Add buttermilk and stir until blended.
Bake in a bundt pan at 250 degrees for 2 ½ hours. Test with toothpick.
Cool cake a little before removing from pan.
Combine orange juice and powdered sugar, stir well.
Poke holes in cake with skewer and pour OJ mixture over cooled cake and allow to sit overnight.
