2 c. sugar
1 ¼ c. vegetable oil or apple sauce
3 eggs
1 T. vanilla
1 t. soda
¼ t. salt
1 t. cinnamon
3 c. flour (sifted)
1 c. chopped nuts
3 c. diced apples
Mix sugar and oil. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing after each.
Add dry ingredients.
Fold in apples and nuts last.
Bake in a 9×13 pan, well greased and floured.
Bake at 325° for 60 to 75 minutes.
Top with Penuche frosting.
1/2 c. butter
1/4 c. milk
1 c. brown sugar, packed
3 1/2 c. powdered sugar, sifted
In saucepan melt margarine and stir in brown sugar. Cook and stir until bubbly.
Remove from heat and add milk. Beat vigorously until smooth.
Add powdered sugar and beat by hand until spreading consistency.
Frost cake immediately.
