Music Cue Sheets have all of the track information about the music in a video
It is VERY important that music cue sheets are 100% correct because these documents are submitted to other organizations to pay the musicians - think of them as a paycheck for the artists, and any typo or mistakes affect if or how much that artist gets paid!
"WHY DO WE NEED TO FILL OUT MUSIC CUE SHEETS & A MUSIC SECTION ON THE REDSHEET TOO? ISN'T THAT REPETITIVE?"
Nah, it isn't. Music Cue Sheets tell us the track info, usage & exact time-codes where the track is used in a video, but they don't tell us the rights information for those tracks - the media, territory & term for which the music was licensed. This information is only found on the Redsheet in the music section, which is why we need BOTH.
Once your video is locked, you will create the music cue sheet.
Fill in the video data into the top section of the music cue sheet - the video title, name of editor, project ID, name of whomever completed the music cue sheet, the total running time of the video & the premiere date of the video:
Your Editor should export a report (called an EDL) from the project file of the music used in the video.
This report gives the timing information for the music used. The editor or AP should copy & paste the track titles & cue timing information into the music cue sheet - see below:
If you are only using Jingle Punks & Audio Network, you will use the library websites (see this section for LOG-INS) to find the song details & complete your music cue sheet.
You'll need the Artist name, Writers' names, Publisher(s) & Performing Rights Society info.
For a step-by-step guide to locating this information on these music libraries' websites, please see THIS DOCUMENT.
If you are using licensed music in your video, you will need to get the artist, writer, publisher & performing rights society information from the music licenses - contact the music licensing team to confirm that your information is correct!
You'll need to put in the usage information. At the top of the music cue sheet, there is a Usage Key with the abbreviations you will use for this.
Some examples of usages:
ONCE COMPLETE - Upload to your video’s VL2 entry on the R&C tab under the Music Cue section!
