While you should read and follow basically everything outlined in this site - if you are going to read anything - read this! Everything at Vice has the potential to run globally so it's important to keep these basic standards across all your productions:

- Legal Guidelines - Do not partake in illegal activities. Do not film anyone without getting a release. Minors must have parental/guardian consent.
- Rights and Clearances - Make sure your entire piece, including all individuals, locations, artwork/graphics that appear therein, is released for all media in perpetuity. If you need to have restrictions, check in with U.S team to see if we can help.
- Archival & Music Clearances - Properly clear all archival and music, have documentation on redsheets and cue sheets, do not assume fair use.
- Tell a Good and Interesting Story - Ensure that your piece has proper story and character development and is signed off by your Head of Content or Executive Producer. Check that this story has not already been told! Especially by VICE!
- Insider Entry - Create an Insider entry for all videos, cutdowns and trailers and include all associated release forms, contracts, stills, and distribution limitations.
- Delivery Standards - have broadcast, an EDL file, an OMF file, clean splits, and a project file. include a Quicktime reference video with timecode burned in. All versions are same TRT.
- Shooting Guide - all your footage should be 23.98FPS Progressive for US (25FPS Progressive if EU) 16:09 Aspect Ratio. Audio at 48kHz, 24-bit.
- Post Standards - all video is Apple ProRes 422 (LT) or Apple ProRes 422 (SQ), 1920 x 1080, no watermark or bug.

This guide largely consists of U.S. specific protocol respectively labeled U.S. Procedure. We strongly suggest international offices become familiar with these guidelines and consider them a blueprint when devising future workflow standards.
