The R&C section of an Insider entry is one of the three main components that must be completed in order to publish a video.
Not everyone has the access level needed in order to mark Insider entries for R&C.

Certain individuals across our global offices have access to fill in the R&C section on videos produced from their offices - this is so the entries can be archived & the videos can be published.
IMPORTANT → Unless your video has been approved for global publication by Sara Rodriguez & is being reviewed by US R&C, you should only be publishing the video in your specific locale!

In order for the R&C section to be marked as completed, the required R&C paperwork must be uploaded to the Insider entry & the following fields must be properly set:
- R&C STATUS (Drop-down Menu)
- DISTRIBUTION (Dropdown Menu)
- LICENCE STATUS (Drop-down Menu)
- LICENCE TERM (Drop-down Menu + Calendar Drop-down)
- LICENSE NOTE (Free Text Field)
This is the default setting for the R&C section - this is not complete.
This is how all international offices should mark the R&C section of their video entries if the video has no license/release expirations & has not been reviewed by US R&C.

CAN THIS VIDEO BE DISTRIBUTED FREELY TO THIRD PARTY PLATFORMS, OR ARE THERE RESTRICTIONS ON THE CONTENT?

- Unspecified - Default option.
- Unrestricted - No restrictions on distribution to third party platforms - ONLY US & UK R&C SHOULD BE USING THIS OPTION.
- VICE O&O Only - Video publication/distribution is limited to VICE owned & operated platforms ONLY (for digital, this means VICE Video, VICE YouTube, and/or VICE-branded social pages only). This restriction comes from licensed/released aspects of a video (music, archival, etc) who’s platform rights are restricted by the language on the license/release.
- Branded/Sponsored - The video is subject to an overarching partnership with a third party business or client - this option tells us that we should take a look at the contract (the Statement of Work ((SOW)) and/or Master Services Agreement ((MSA))) describing that partnership before any licensing/distribution.
- If your video is branded or sponsored - you must also upload the fully executed SOW and/or MSA to the video Insider entry, along with the other R&C Deliverables!
- Territory Restrictions - This field is used 2 ways:
- To tell us if any of the licensed/released aspects of a video are restricted to certain locations - this means VICE may not be allowed to show/air the content globally.
- To tell us if a video has not been reviewed for global publication - meaning the video was produced by a Non-US or UK office that does not have an R&C coordinator reviewing the video prior to publication.
**ALL INTERNATIONAL VIDEOS SHOULD BE MARKED WITH THIS OPTION!**
- Exclusivity Period - Video cannot be published, licensed and/or distributed because we have granted another party exclusive rights to the video for a certain length of time.
- EXAMPLE - In the US, “Autobiographies” videos are subject to a 6 month exclusivity period with Verizon - this means that the videos can be aired ONLY by Verizon for 6 months.
- Do Not Distribute - Catch-all option for a variety of different clearance issues that might prevent a video from being ok to license/distribute - examples include (not an exhaustive list):
- Music or archival is expired & not being relicensed
- Video has resulted in a Legal claim against the company (privacy, defamation, copyright infringement, etc)
- Video is older & missing all paperwork
- Video is US VICELAND content
- Further Approval Required - In general, distributing/licensing our videos requires Legal approval (see Pre-Cleared List process) - when a video is marked “Further Approval Required”, it means there are additional approvals *including the normal Legal approval* that are needed in order to distribute/license the content.
- EXAMPLE - Munchies content; Munchies = produced under VICE Food LLC, which is a joint venture between VICE & another company called Fremantle. Fremantle has approval rights on our distribution/licensing of Munchies content
- Promotional Materials - Any video that is a teaser, trailer, promo, extra scene, or excerpt is marked with this.
**IMPORTANT** → Unless your video has been reviewed by US R&C, you should always mark this sections as “Territory Restrictions - See License Note”.

- Cleared for All Media - Selected for pieces that have been cleared for all platforms.
- Cleared for TV - Selected for pieces that have been cleared for TV
- Cleared for Online - Selected for pieces that are airing on digital platforms.
- Not For Sale - Selected for pieces that are no longer clear for any platforms. Example: Expired music or archival terms.
**This field is not restrictive - if a video’s License Details are set to “Online”, it does not mean that it can only be aired online; it just means that it was produced & reviewed by R&C for DIGITAL publication (standards for clearances on digital content are different than standards for TV content).***

DOES THE VIDEO CONTAIN ANYTHING (MUSIC, ARCHIVAL, TALENT) THAT IS LICENSED OR RELEASED FOR A LIMITED AMOUNT OF TIME? IF SO, WHEN IS THE EARLIEST EXPIRATION?

- IN PERPETUITY: Yes - Everything in the video has been released/licensed for perpetuity terms (no expirations)
- IN PERPETUITY: No - Video contains some aspect that is subject to an expiration
- IMPORTANT #1 - If you select NO you *must* enter in the exact start and end dates of the license/release that is subject to an expiration - the video entry will not archive if you do not enter both dates. These dates are found on the license/release.
- IMPORTANT #2 - If the video contains more than 1 aspect that is subject to an expiration, enter the start and end dates of the license expiring FIRST.
