- Obtain all necessary releases before or during the shoot.
- Include your project title on the release form.
- Tell your subject what you’re doing, i.e. “we’re streaming live on Facebook," "we're filming a short documentary on...."
- Assume all email could go public - be respectful, professional and truthful.
- Avoid shooting where music is audible unless you have pre-obtained music rights
- Do not film or interview minors without their parent’s signed permission in advance, this goes for all media platforms
- Do not participate in illegal activity. You can document illegal activity but do not in any way encourage the behavior.
- Do not trespass or shoot on property when you don't have permission, even if your subjects are doing so.
- Don’t film indoors unless you have a location release, this includes live streams
- Do not film b-roll of unreleased people unless there is a blanket release hanging on the door and you have a location release
- Do not misrepresent yourself or the story.
