Pre-SHOOT Post Requests

All requests must be submitted 48 Hours before the requested pick-up time, if not earlier.

Media Request Form (VICE DIGITAL)

Your media can be picked up in the post pit between 9:30a and 12a on weekdays. If you need to coordinate a media pick up outside of those hours, please let me know at least 24 hours in advance.

- While emergencies will be handled as best as possible, all media requests should be submitted at least 48 hours before you need them in hand to ensure we can provide / wrangle the media you need.

- *New Policy: Your footage will *NOT* be ingested until you return all media you have loaned out for your shoot to NYCpost at the time of ingest. This includes empty media cards, cards you haven't used or plan to re-use for another shoot. We have a new barcode system that will allow us to track much more accurately, and we need to check in/out your media for this work. If you need media again, we can give it you right away - but it must get checked in first.

- *Old Policy, but going to be enforced : If you lose or otherwise cannot return media for some reason, your PID will be charged for the cost of replacement(s).

• There is no reason to hold on to the media; it doesn’t matter if you have another shoot that same day, the media must come back. If you do not return the media within a week of the Footage Upload email being sent out, your project will be billed the cost for the cards/drives.

The kick-off emails you send will replace the Editor/ AE requests that you've had to make before. However, if you're picking up on a project that has been dark for a long time and needs to be edited outside of a regular edit schedule, use the following google doc formats to make your requests:

These days should have been included on the Calendar you attached in your Kick-off Email

• If you'll need your footage translated or transcribed, contact translation coordinator Sergio Ceballos, sergio.cebellos@vice.com, with Veronica on CC, with the amount of footage you’ll need translated and the requested languages.

• Please send this over as early as possible so the translation department can put people on standby.

SHOOTING IN 4K OR 2K

• Whenever you are shooting in 4K or 2K for any of your Digital projects, you need to let Nick Savarese know in advance. It is essential for the simple reason that our server (or any other server in any other company) cannot host 4K projects. We CANNOT be editing in 4K. It is massive in size and takes up too much server space and we will always run into technical issues in edit, which puts us behind in our schedules. That being said you CAN still shoot in 4K but you need to give Post a heads up and note it as such in on your Ingest Form.

Offline/ online workflow for 4k or 2k footage

• Producers inform Nick Savarese prior to shooting in 4K or 2K and note this on the Ingest Form
• Post transcodes the 4K footage
• Editor works off of transcodes
• Once cut is locked, editor up-rezes the locked cut
• Up-rezed cut is sent for color
