Prepositions of Time

In, on or at is never used before yesterday, tomorrow, tonight, next..., this..., last..., every....

We use on with meal time, such as on breakfast, on lunch, on dinner, on supper.

With the weekend, we can use at the weekend or on the weekend.

With months, seasons, years and centuries, we can use in before them.

With the morning, the afternoon and the evening, we can use on instead of in.

We use on + season/day + part of the day, such as on winter morning, on Monday evening.

At is used before clock time (at quarter to five, at 8 am, at 7:30, etc)

On is used with days, such as on Sundays, on my birthday, on New Year’s day, on New Year’s eve, on Christmas day, etc)

In is often used with dates, such as in March 4th, 2014.

At is used with holiday periods, such as at Christmas, at Easter, at New Year.

In, on hoặc at không bao giờ được sử dụng trước yesterday, tomorrow, tonight, next..., this..., last..., every....

Vì với thời gian các bữa ăn chúng ta dùng với at, chẳng hạn at breakfast (vào bữa sáng), at lunch (vào bữa trưa).

With the weekend, we can use at the weekend or on the weekend.

Với ngày cuối tuần chúng ta có thể sử dụng at the weekend (tiếng Anh Anh) và on the weekend (tiếng Anh Mỹ).

Với các tháng, các mùa trong năm, các năm và các thế kỉ, chúng ta có thể dùng giới từ in.

On được sử dụng với các ngày, ví dụ on Sundays (vào các ngày Chủ Nhật), on my birthday (vào sinh nhật của tôi), on New Year’s day (vào ngày Tết), on New Year’s eve (vào đêm giao thừa), on Christmas day (vào giáng sinh).

On được dùng trước ngày, ví dụ on March 4th, 2014 (vào ngày 4/3/2014).

At được dùng với các dịp lễ, ví dụ: at Christmas (vào dịp Giáng Sinh), at Easter (vào dịp lễ Phục Sinh), at New Year (vào dịp Tết).
