The following obituary was written by Tony's son, Greg, and appeared in the Brattleboro Reformer newspaper (Vt.) on November 20, 2010.  It  was forwarded by Gene Cooper.

Anthony Salvadore Jr. passed away in Charlotte, NC, on October 13th after a 4-year battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Tony (widower to Jane, 1996) is survived by his current wife Nancy of 9 years, who brought new joy to his last years, and who lovingly and tirelessly cared for him during his illness. Tony is survived by his sons Greg, Tony III, Christopher and his 'adopted' son David Jones. Tony Salvadore was a loving husband, generous friend and committed family man who met life's challenges head-on with conviction and without ceremony. Raised primarily in Pearl River, NY, he attended college at both St. Bonaventure and Rider, and began his career in Manhattan, NY. After a number of years in marketing at Clairol and Warner Lambert, a desire for a change in lifestyle brought him and Jane to Jamaica, Vt., where they purchased the historic Jamaica General Store. This was a wonderful environment to raise the boys within a family business and become an active member of a small, rural community. Later on Tony and family moved to Dummerston, Vt., where he became an integral part in the development and construction of the Brattleboro Rescue Squad. The Salvadores then moved to Bristol Vt., where Tony was employed at Simmonds Precision in Vergennes for 10 years. Continued steps along Tony's career included senior management positions building Navy ships in Savannah, Ga., and military projectiles in Janesville, Wis., and lastly a software company in Charlotte, NC. In each location, Tony continued his dedication to running, competing in many 10K's and a number of marathons, most notably in the New York City and the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, DC. In Savannah, Ga., Tony became an avid sailor and loved to sail with family and friends, go on charters and make extended coastal cruises. His last few years of sailing with Nancy on coastal South Carolina were some of his most enjoyable adventures. No formal funeral is scheduled and his remains will be buried in the family plot in Jamaica, Vt. in the spring of 2011.
