Round Two of Crash Test Drama was another big success. The plays all ran under time, so no penalties were given.

The first play was “I Like Curds And Whey”, directed by Glenn Levett and written by Allan West. It starred Cara Cooper, Emma Page, Edric Hong, Melissa Markou and Alex Whitewood. Jackson Bunting took home Best Actor Runner up.

Second up was “The TV Presenter”, written by Dalia Janavicius and directed by Lisa Kelaher. It featured Kayla Burrows, Bindoo, Alan Long, Christine D’Rozario and William Baltyn.

Third was “Men Are From Venus, Women Are From Mars” by Latifa Amal-Schwarz. Jyostna Sharma directed a cast inclusive of Taufeeq Ahmed and Katy Moore, who was awarded Best Actress.

Opening act two was “What Happens In A Chemist Stays In A Chemist”, written by Alyssa Gillgren and directed by Ruth Fingret. This won many awards: Best Play Runner Up, Popular Vote Runner Up, Best Director, Best Actor for Isaac Owen and Best Actress Runner Up for Amy Hoffman. Lorraine Toweel also had an honourable mention from the judges for her outstanding performance. We will be seeing this play in the Crash Test Finals.

Fifth for the evening was “The Seagull” written by Fran Bowick and directed by Danielle Castles. It starred Adam Dorrington, Andrew Vial and Jeff Tabley. “The Seagull” also picked up Popular Vote Winner and Best Play. We will be seeing this play in the Crash Test Finals.

Finally, we had “Waiting for Brexit” written by Chris Naylor and directed by Mark Nagle. This short play starred Jacob Fingret, Charlotte Hays and Sergey Bogolyubov.

The Results

Tonight’s judges were the wonderful Darlo Drama staff, Glen Hamilton and Romney Stanton, who were tasked with picking many of the following award winners:

Best Actor Runner Up: Jackson Bunting

Best Actor: Tom Isaac Owen

Best Actress Runner Up: Amy Hoffman

Best Actress: Esther Katy Moore

Best Director: Ruth Fingret

Congratulations to “The Seagull” and “What Happens In A Chemist Stays In A Chemist”, which have both earned a spot in the Crash Test Finals on 2 August.
