In the article “How place names impact the way we see landscape” the author talks about the difference between Western names and traditional names impacting the way the landscape is seen. For example when landscape is given to western names, they are usually named after males, military, or power people who have little connection to the land. Places having two names one traditional and the other western make it difficult to understand what respect/honor should be given by those visiting. When naming a place, it should be named by the people who took care of that land first.

In the article “sharing one skin” the author talks about a community called the “Okanagan” who basically have their own perspective of everything in a way. For example they identify the whole person as having four main capacities that operate together. Those are physical, emotional, thinking, and spiritual self each has its own meaning. Each one talks about how a person does things beyond our skin, or how our large self connects to our hearts, and how the other one is difficult to translate in english, the last one is a place where all things are. This article adds to how basically you are as a person and what life is basically about.

In the article “History of the television” it talks about mechanical televisions in the early/late 1900s. In the article I read about tablets first being introduced to people. The article includes the inventor, the material and the use of tablets. Per the article, a tablet like was introduced in 1966, which was used aboard the USS Starship Enterprise. In 1972, Alan Kay published the first Dynabook. The logistics on this device included screens, processors and storage memory. The Dynabook weighed about 2lbs, was thin, featured a display boasting at least a million pixels, had a nearly unlimited power supply and included a stylus. In 1989, the GRidpad was the first tablet pc to hit the consumer marketplace. The downside to the GRidpad was the weight and size, which was heavier and bulkier than the Dynabook. The article also mentioned before these tablets, graphic tablets were used for kids for drawing, animation and graphics. As the years went by, changes to size, storage and weight changed, along with price.

The first article I read “impacts of kids using technology” Shows Data from a Brazilian institute that Brazilian children ages ten and over, internet usage rose from 69,8% in 2017 to 74.7% in 2018. They have been questioning the impacts of information and communication technologies on children’s physical and psychosocial development. Like sleep, memory, reading, concentration, and the ability to communicate in person. It also talked about how the World health organization published a series of recommendations to parents about exposure to children using technology. Children under the age of 5 should not spend more than 60 minutes a day using devices like phones, tablets, and watching television.

In the Article “How Has Technology Changed the Concept of Community?” It talks about how connections have become easier but others say that life has become more isolated for them. Older people are more affected and are the ones feeling isolated because their Son, Daughter, or grandchildren don’t go by, they just call to check up. The digital age has changed the way people connect with their friends, family, and neighbors. It shows that this reshaping community life, ranging from where people shop to how they participate in causes they care about.

In the article I read “The Amish understand a life-changing truth about technology the rest of us don’t” it talks about how Amish people use us as a “experiment”. According to Arizona State's University’s School for the Future of Innovation in Society they watch when we adopt new technology and decide whether that's something they wanna adopt themselves. It says Amish people refuse to own television or automobiles because they decide those technologies eroded their communities. They didn’t want television because they didn’t want to bring another society into their living rooms.
