Jeanette Armstrong Summary:
The author, who is Okanagan addresses the key differences between the Okanagan views and practices of community. These practices that she talks about have been proven successful for thousands of years. She also brings up the views and practices of the dominant society which particularly focuses on the psychological variations. I like that translation of Okanagan “The word Okanagan comes from a whole understanding of what we are as human beings”. The second part of the word also adds the perspective that “we are mind as well as matter” which ties in with “We are dream, memory, and imagination. Moving on to the four capacities of self being physical, emotional, thinking-intellectual self, and spiritual self. These four selves can tie into the way we function and experience things.
