the article is about things that we could relate to.Things that we all have in common.the things that every persomor living thing has ,the 4 main topics of this article were physical, emtional ,intellectail, and spiritual self . I say we all have these things because we have bodies ;we have feelings ,we overtink and most of us all pray .
How i personally connected through the story was the examples it gave were about things that i do on a daily basis like over thinking or pray just things kike that were really how i conected through this article.
The article talks about key importances of being human . justlike we have 5 senses it gives a feelings that we havemore emotions .such as physical, emtion, thinking ,and sprit self . things that i really didnt think of until thos article bought to me ,it made me notice these things .the places named by stories is complicated by saying a place but thinking of a story you once told .naming places of storys is hard to do because there are specific stoeies that have a sepicfic landscape but they just call a place a place because it was similar to a story they have been told .

Research log 2
In a article in researched that is “Mental health in athletes: Physical prowess, mental fitness”
This article stated .That as an athlete you are always looked at as a role model and you are constantly being watched which can leave you to have no freedom. It also said that athletes are always having to go through criticism from anybody around the world . People all over the world have to deal with not responding in a negative way that will affect their outview .So in other words they have to deal with other people's criticism without having any voice to respond otherwise they would be suspended or fined .
Another thing that is a factor is the fear of failing or losing a scholarship .Those things can personally mess with your head and stress you out on top of the workload you already have .
When you have to constantly fight for your spot on your team to fight for your scholarship as well.along with that fear is disappointing others when your playing sports you don't want to disappoint anyone but you can't have a good game every time so there will be times you don't win them all .with losing games your always gonna have people talk bad about you . but you're always gonna have criticism whether you're or winning or not .
There's always gonna be those people, fans and reporters that are gonna have criticism with those critics you have to adapt to their environment. A few examples that this article was “Something unique and truly unprecedented occurred during the gymnastics final at the Tokyo games. Simone Biles the world's best gymnast walked off the gym floor .'' This shows that anytime, even on the big stage, mental problems can get into your head . She showed the world that mental health is a major problem .
When this happened “They inspired people in every industry to be more aware of the connection between mental health and peak performance. “ this statement gives a different perspective with making sure your athlete is in the right state of mind.
In the history of my topic it shows that athletes are dying from this mental stigma. This has been a problem from pressure or from cte this has been a problem but its finally been showing now .
In the video I watched “How Injury Affects Mental Health | Athletes Connected “ it talked about how injuries affected her mental health . What Erin Finn went through and how some athletes deal witha injury .
She said that when dealing with a injury she felt as if she was letting her team down . After winning the national championship of womens cross country she was devastated that as one of the leaders she couldnt lead her team again. She wanted to run again because that is what she had been doing almost her whole life and she didnt know how to go without it . Without running she feel into to depression and dint have any motionvation to do anything .
Whne she finally healed she ran again but she said “it didnt feel the smae after the injury “ she beleived that she woudlnt get back to how she once was .due to the same unjury that she later on experienced the stakes were higher as her teammates in michigan qualified for the olympics she didnt due to having time away from running . injuries that athletes have to deal with can affect there mental health because some of those athletes do not know how to function without it .

The summary of my first source was the fact of why it's important to help as soon as possible . I say this because there are people such as athletes that are taking their own life .
According to one of the articles I researched “In gender equity engagement, 72% of women's sports participants and 56% of men's sports participants reported actively trying to learn more about gender equity on their own. Fifty-eight percent of women and 46% of men occasionally or frequently had conversations with teammates focused on gender equity. The equity is also as balanced as women's sports .But there has been a spike that has increasingly affected the athletes . The other problem that made these athletes have more mental issues that are already on their plate is the pandemic,” (Greg Johnson). Since athletes had to stop training with a team playing with their team they lost time that could be vital to their athletic career .
such as high school athletes when they had dreams to dreams of playing at the next level .they didn't have time to be recruited to play at the college level so with that time lost they didn't get to achieve their dreams .When something like that happens they tend to fall in the depressions .that is one of the many reason why we need to help athletes .

The other source that I found was a video that speaks about mental health of athletes .It was interviewed by Alabama head football coach .I chose this source because it had personal reasons that I could relate to myself .
the things coach saban said in this interview mentioned a lot about football each is the sport i personally enjoy and can relate most to .He said that “college football isn't like any other sport there is a lot of preparation that goes into the team .things that players have to go through just to be overhauled is extreme amount of time that leaves nothing else in there schedule .
They have so much preparation time just to be on the team . when they do lay there's always risk of injuries even in practice these injuries in football can even amount to death .``nick saban “ I think this stood out to me because there's a lot of risk for athletes to play the game that they love . Student athletes really don't care about those risks because they don't believe in those injuries .
One thing that concerns coaches all across the board is something called CTE which is “Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) is a progressive brain condition that's thought to be caused by repeated blows to the head and repeated episodes of concussion. It's particularly associated with contact sports, such as boxing or American football.'' This condition is always running though football players minds because the sport requires you go through contact that has major risks to have this condition .
He also mentions the importance of academics ,and the importance of being a student athletes sure we here this term “student athlete “ a lot but what does this mean at the collegiate level .according to this interview it means the loss of scholarships .failing classe scan amount to getting cut from the team or even using the scholarships that athletes work for endlessly in high school. He mentions for athletes they never have any free time because they have a constant busy schedule from practices , film study and classes . That can be too much and that could cause athletes to fall into depression.
Another thing that i saw was stress levels that spiked up because of the amount of work from school but also trying to be the best version of yourself in playing your sport. The problem with trying to perfect your craft in youre sport but also trying to be a good student as well . Is time distribution with giving your time to your academic work and practicing . This can be alot for a lot of student athletes because they want to get better at playing as athletes. All we want is to get better and also be eligible to play and exceed expectations in the classroom.

Action Plan 1: Notice Athletes Mental health
What I wanted to do with my action plan. Was to have a flag football game with the youth because when the younger players play they have a real reaction to having fun .I wanted to show them if your going through being around people can help or even playing sports can be a outlet . Most people that have really bad mental health either rely on drugs or hurt themselves . I wanted to show the youth that you dont need those things , but when around people that understand you such as a team . Or having a priority is helping something you can focus on . The other reason I chose this was to show them that you should have fun playing a sport overall that is one reason you play the game . I wanted flag football because its something i know alot about and something that you dont see people playing often.
