Surrealist Painting

I created a surrealist painting based on my collage I had made on my computer. I created a surrealist portrait. I used a HB pencil to sketch out the face, a black oil sharpie to go over the vines and the different sections of the face, and acrylic paint to obviously add color to create this project. Some art-making techniques I used are layering the paint to show texture and depth. Elements I used to create this project are outlining, I outlined the face. I add interest to my composition I incorporated line, by outlining sections, texture by layering the paint where the hair is to show lighter and darker colors and color by putting contrasting colors next to each other. I used contrast with the colors their self and playing with the dark and lightness of the colors. This completed work makes me feel happy because I changed my collage several times and am pleased with my final product because I second guessed myself on lots of different ideas and ended up doing them hoping it would all look good together. By creating this project I may try to do more intricate designs now that I know how much detail makes the piece a lot better. I think that I will add multiple different designs in the future to make my paintings better. In future pieces I want to push myself to make my art ideas harder now that I know i can do it. I added my own original style by adding the vine going around the whole white oval. I did this because I think that the plain blue-green color with the white is boring and I think by adding that it helped take away that border or line that was making my painting look messy and rushed.
