Wood burning with acrylic paint
So about a year ago my best friend got a new yellow lab puppy, and almost everyday I would go over and play the puppy(Atticus). I wanted to create a piece of art around him because he's a pretty cool dog. this relates to my life because I love this dog more than I love my bed.
The first thing I did was print out a piece of paper and outline the side with the dog on it with a sharp 6B pencil and then on the other side of the paper after I lined up the dog on the wood, I scribbled on the paper with a 4H pencil and pressed the lines on the other side of the paper onto the wood. Then I grabbed a wood burner and outlined Atticus. After I got some yellow red and white acrylic paint and mixed it together to make two different tints of orange to paint the dog with, as well as black and white paint to make a light grey to paint the background which was going to be the floor. then I took straight black and painted lines that would represent the floor. And when I got home I took an ink pen and a ruler and went over all the lines trying to make them as straight as can be. Next I used brown waterproof India Ink and placed it in the cracks where the wood had been burned to show that it was a wood burning first.
At first I was just going to draw it, but i decided to use wood because I hadn't used it this year and everything I had done before was a drawing or painting. I think that playing with the perspective of the dog compared to my other projects made it a lot stronger. I would do something to the background.
