The power of potus

We live in the strongest of the 195 countries recognized in the world. If you are not sure about how strong we are, just read here, watch here and take a look at this. Militarily and economically, the US seems to come out on top one way or the other with countries like Russia, Germany, and China in hot pursuit. Still, the United States always seems to come out on top. Knowing that, the leader of this country is an important person who needs to be chosen carefully. That person needs to care deeply about and be active in solving the issues of the people within the nation. In 2020, a new leader for that nation will be chosen. Who might it be, and do they really care for our issues?

This is serious, so listen!

We have twenty - three confirmed candidates for the 2020 presidential elections, twenty - one of which are Democrats and the other two are Republicans. This shows that we are highly likely to have a Democratic president from 2020-2024. However, one of the Republican candidates is very well know, the incumbent Donald Trump. Is Trump going to win the next election? If he was to do so, then why would he? It seems that he already set in place to insure the position and it seems like he gains support for illegitimate reasons. In fact, according to Ayesha Rascoe, NPR White House correspondent, the new Trump slogan for 2020 will be “Keep America Great,” since the Trump White House argues that his administration accomplished the goal of making America great. WHAT MAKES AMERICA GREAT and WHY ISN’T IT TRUMP?

What makes america great?

Many people all over the world have colorful opinions about the United States. Many see America as this great country, and President Trump is one of these people. The difference is that Trump, his administration, and his supporters believe that they are the reason that America is great. Now, Trump wants to "Keep America Great". He, however, is not what makes America great. What does, then? What is great about America is the people. America does indeed have its flaws, but nothing is ever perfect. The good part about America is the number of people who believe in the spirit we have to assist the Nation in living up to what America was written out to be and founded to be. It was founded to be a Land of The Free and a Home of The Brave. America is supposed to be a place where people have free speech and can express, worship, and believe as they so please. It is supposed to be a place that people of differing backgrounds, opinions, beliefs, customs, languages and much more can intermingle and share customs. That spirit, that dream, and that vision that America was originally written and founded to be and strives to someday become is what makes America great; not some carrot with a dead opossum who proclaims himself president.

IT's a democracy. what do the people say?

In an attempt to find out more information concerning the Presidential Candidates and what people know and think about them, a short survey was conducted among students at Carver. Here are the results of a few of the questions. In addition, questions that the students of Carver had for the 2020 candidates were submitted to and asked to members of the NPR White House Correspondents. Their comments and opinions were given as well on a live podcast and on their twitter, which can be found here. (It's the forth one down).

Overall...

... we are going to see a pretty interesting run for 2020. There are many Democratic candidates and very few Republican candidates, but of the two, Trump is one of them. Political pundits point out there could be an interesting race between specifically Trump and Biden. With Orange Man being a candidate, what is that going to mean? Is he going to win again and if he does, WHY? There are many questions to ask about the future concerning these candidates, their campaigns, this election, and the future President of the United States and who they will be. We are slowly watch things unfold and also see our questions be answered, but as of now, we can just sit back and keep an eye on what's happening. With the second presidency or Orange Man being a possibility, we are definitely going to be in for an interesting show.

The future is in our hands and our heads and in what we do and say to each other. Power to the people.
