It wasn’t just the sun turning up the temperature this week – the KS3 kitchen assessments sent the mercury soaring even higher! With timers ticking, aprons flying, and spices sizzling, students gave it their all in a high-stakes culinary challenge filled with blood, sweat, and actual tears.
Despite the pressure, our young chefs rose to the occasion, dishing up creativity, perseverance, and flavour – all in 40-45 action-packed minutes. Let’s give a round of applause (and maybe a standing ovation) for their remarkable efforts!
Culinary Stars of the Week:
Keke W Year 9 – A master of both prep and presentation, Keke wowed with her stunning flatbreads and excellent seasoning. A true parcel of talent wrapped in flavor and finesse!
Nagina Q Year 9 – Her delightful chicken and cucumber dish was a feast for both the eyes and the taste buds. Simply beautiful!
Tobias F Year 9 – In a moment of kitchen glory, Tobias triumphantly shouted, "I DID IT!" after shaping his seasoned chicken into perfect burger patties. Into the oven they went – buns at the ready!
Calvin S Y9 – A health-conscious hero, Calvin incorporated wholemeal flour and rainbow vegetables, serving up a dish rich in fibre, vitamins, and color. A plate with purpose!
Asher y7 – Quietly confident and full of promise, Asher impressed with focus and flair beyond his years. A rising star in the making!
Isabel A Y8 – Took the humble bread and spun it into something magical: sweet cinnamon and honey bread twists that transformed her dish into something Focaccia-level legendary.
TJ N Y8 - pulled out all the stops, whipping up fresh homemade pasta, focaccia, and a rich Bolognaise sauce!
