On Sunday 18 May, a keen group of Onslow St Audrey’s students swapped their usual weekend routines for a thrilling day at London’s O2 Arena, where they witnessed the British Basketball League Play‑Off Finals. The trip was designed as a hands‑on extension of our sports curriculum—and it delivered in style.
From the first tip‑off to the final buzzer, our students represented the school with warmth, curiosity and impeccable manners. Arena stewards and neighbouring spectators took the time to compliment their courtesy and infectious enthusiasm—praise that made staff beam with pride.
We kicked the day off with the Women’s Play‑Off Final, cheering extra‑loud as our very own Oaklands Wolves stormed into an early first‑quarter lead. Although the Wolves couldn’t quite hold on for the win, their grit and flair had everyone on their feet—an inspiring sight for our students. The excitement hardly dipped before tip‑off for the men’s clash between Leicester and Newcastle. This time Leicester dominated from start to finish, giving us a masterclass in fast breaks and slick ball movement to seal a convincing victory. Two high‑energy games, plenty of edge‑of‑your‑seat moments, and memories we’ll be talking about long after the final buzzer!
A heartfelt thank‑you goes to Mr Oakaby‑Wright, whose support ensured the entire day ran like clockwork.
Finally, thank you to parents and carers for your trust and support. Your encouragement allowed our students to seize this opportunity, deepen their love of sport and showcase the respectful, confident qualities we value at Onslow St Audrey’s.
We look forward to building on this momentum—both in next league season (next year) and future enrichment trips. Until then, congratulations to our brilliant students for flying the OSA flag with such distinction!
