As we reach the end of this term, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the wonderful experiences we’ve shared in the library.
One of the standout successes of the term has been our Book Club. It’s been amazing to see so many students come together to discuss books, share opinions, and discover new genres and authors. Hot Chocolate was a big hit for the last book club of the term!
Following on from Book Day which celebrates the joy of reading and the magic of stories, the OSA Book Club is reading Romance / Comedy this month , a shift from the spine-tingling tales of last month. Members are excited to explore stories filled with laughter, love, and heartwarming moments. The books selected promise to whisk readers away to charming settings, introduce them to endearing characters, and weave narratives that are both witty and sweet. As always, the club meets every two weeks (Thursday Week B) during lunchtime, where students can share their thoughts, enjoy lively discussions, and perhaps even discover the humor and romance in everyday life. Book club will resume after the Easter break, taking place every Thursday in Week B.
We also had great fun with our Blind Date with a Book event, where many of the students embraced the mystery of selecting a book wrapped in paper. It was wonderful to witness so many students stepping out of their comfort zones, reading something new, and discovering hidden gems they might not have chosen otherwise.
I'm currently reading On Silver Tides by Sylvia Bishop which is full of heart, drama and beauty, it is a fantasy inspired by ancient folklore that will draw you into a secret world within Britain’s waterways. Highly recommended If you enjoy magical creatures, intriguing settings, and whimsical elements, Silver Tides would be a great pick.
Enjoy your break and happy reading!
