We are thrilled to share that 11 of our brilliant Year 12 students recently attended the ‘We Can Be’ event in London – a truly empowering experience designed to inspire young women and open their eyes to exciting career possibilities in the world of business and beyond.
The day began at Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, where students took part in an engaging and informative session exploring careers in banking and finance. A tour of the offices and a “meet the professional” activity gave our students the opportunity to speak directly with employees and ask questions about their roles and career journeys. Four key messages stood out during this session and will stay with our students as they consider their own futures:
Be passionate about what you do
Build a strong network of connections
Maintain a positive attitude
Enjoy who you work with – after all, we spend a lot of our lives at work!
Following a delicious lunch (thank you Domino’s and Lola’s Bakery!), we walked through the heart of the city to the Guildhall, where students joined 350 other young women from across London and beyond. Here they took part in a business simulation game and heard from inspirational speakers about the importance of resilience, ambition, and believing in yourself.
The event left a lasting impression on our students, who returned feeling motivated, informed, and empowered. One student shared, “It made me realise how many opportunities are out there – and that I am capable of achieving them.”
A huge thank you to the organisers of ‘We Can Be’ for such a powerful and memorable day. Events like this help to build not only careers knowledge but also confidence and ambition – and we are proud to support our students every step of the way.
