Seeing a play that you study for GCSE English and Drama makes the words on the page come alive, and to see it as a play to be watched, not just read. Thirty Year 11 students had the opportunity to see the play performed at Alexandra Palace. We caught the train and took photos of London from the iconic hill and were a bit gobsmacked by the ending of the play, as we had not yet finished reading it in lessons. Lots of conversation ensued on the way home: "Who was the Inspector?", "What really happened?", "Why did the house tip forward?" and "Who is ultimately to blame?"
So, food for thought, with Priestley's enduring tale of inequality and social responsibility.
