On Friday, 18th October, OSA had the privilege of hosting former Team GB Olympian and renowned British sprinter, Dwain Chambers. He delivered an inspiring talk to our Year 10 and 11 GCSE PE students. Dwain is a decorated athlete with international medals from both World and European competitions, and is recognised as one of the fastest European sprinters in the history of athletics.
Dwain's presentation was both candid and thought-provoking, engaging students and staff alike. His openness captivated the audience, as evidenced by the profound silence in the room, where one could have heard a pin drop. Following the talk, Dwain led both groups to our newly built, state-of-the-art Sports Hall to conduct a dynamic sprint masterclass. The session focused on efficient and effective sprinting techniques, offering students hands-on experience from an athlete of the highest caliber.
Opportunities to hear a former Olympic athlete speak so honestly about the triumphs and challenges of a professional sports career are rare. We are deeply grateful to Dwain for visiting OSA. His motivational and inspiring presentation will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on the students and staff fortunate enough to witness it. The OSA PE department takes great pride in the diverse range of experiences we offer our learners, and this event was a prime example of that commitment. Once again, thank you, Dwain.
