On Friday 20th September, our Year 11 students took part in an inspiring and dynamic Futures Day, designed to help them explore their post-GCSE options and gain confidence as they approach this crucial stage in their education. The day began with a captivating drumming circle, where students learned the importance of teamwork and communication as they synchronized beats and rhythms. It was a powerful way to start the day and set a tone of collaboration and engagement.
Students then rotated through a series of workshops, each offering valuable insights and guidance to support their future planning. External organisations such as Oaklands College, ASK Apprenticeships, and the University of Hertfordshire led sessions on topics like apprenticeships, vocational courses and university pathways. Our own staff provided detailed information about the school's sixth form and other post-16 options including T Levels, ensuring students were well-informed about their choices.
In addition to the career-focused sessions, students also attended a unique "Happiness Workshop", encouraging them to step outside their comfort zones and reflect on their well-being. The day was a resounding success, equipping students with the knowledge and motivation to make informed decisions about their futures.
We encourage parents and carers to continue the conversation at home, exploring the options available and supporting their child as they plan for life beyond GCSEs.
