On Thursday, October 16th, we were delighted to host a representative from the Globe Theatre in London, who engaged with our Year 11 students in the hall on the subject of Romeo & Juliet, their designated Shakespearean text.
Students explored the history of the Globe Theatre and learned how Shakespeare’s plays were crafted with the theatre’s architecture playing a significant role. They actively participated in exercises involving language related to themes of love and hate, power dynamics, and even took turns embodying Mercutio and Benvolio as they prepared for a brawl, with Mercutio's provocative language leaving no room for Tybalt to back down.
