Dear Parent / Carer,
It has been a short but very busy half-term. Students and staff alike have maintained a high pace of work; our Year 7s, 8s and 9s are currently completing end of year tests; Year 10s are picking up on teachers' tips following their mock exams; Year 11s and Year 13s have started their real exams and Year 12 are making the final preparations for their summer mocks.
In addition, students have continued to benefit from a range of trips and experiences which you will read about below.
I would like to pay particular tribute to the Year 11 leadership team - Mr Simpson, Mr Millar and Mrs Fisher - and the Year 13 Leadership Team - Mr Gray, Mr McKenna and Miss Tyler - for all their support for our students in the run up to their exams. I was honoured to present tributes to Mr Millar and Mrs Fisher from all the Year 11 Form Tutors on Year 11 leavers' day. Mr Millar's begins with a quote from Justin Trudeau: 'A good teacher isn't someone who gives the answers out to their kids, but is understanding of needs and challenges and gives tools to help other people succeed.' It continues, 'In recognition of outstanding leadership, unwavering support and dedication to the success and well-being of Year 11 students throughout the academic year.' Mrs Fisher's begins with a quote: 'Every child is a different kind of flower and all together they make this world a beautiful garden.' It continues, 'For Mrs Fisher; truly the mum of the year group'.
At OSA, we are so fortunate to have staff who care deeply about our students and make an impression on them during their school days that lasts well into the future. I would like to thank all staff for their dedication to helping our students give their best.
With good wishes for the May half-term break,
Julie Jones
