Bringing geography to life through real-world exploration and skills building.
On Thursday, June 12th, fifteen of our Year 10 Geography students took part in a field trip to Stratford, organised in collaboration with the Field Studies Council of London. This trip formed an important part of their preparation for the AQA Physical Geography GCSE paper, particularly supporting the fieldwork and skills required for Paper 3.
During the visit, students explored three distinct areas of Stratford—one that has not been regenerated, one currently undergoing regeneration, and one fully regenerated. This gave them real-world examples of the topics they’ve been studying in class, helping bring their learning to life.
For many students, it was their first visit to Stratford and the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The experience not only supported their academic progress but also allowed them to step outside their usual environment and engage with new people and places.
A highlight of the day was when students were tasked with conducting interviews with members of the public. They approached this confidently and respectfully, showing great responsibility, readiness, and leadership—values we are proud to promote at OSA.
The students’ behaviour was excellent throughout the day, and they represented the school and the Humanities department with pride. A big thank you to Ms Kempson, Mr Moncherry and Ms McNair-Collins for their planning and support in making the trip such a success.
Well done, Year 10!
