This week, our students enjoyed a unique and peaceful educational visit to Amaravati Monastery in Hertfordshire. The trip offered a wonderful opportunity for pupils to explore Buddhist values and practices in a calm, natural setting.
Upon arrival, the group was warmly welcomed by members of the monastic community, who introduced the students to key aspects of Buddhist philosophy, such as mindfulness, compassion, and respectful living. The children listened attentively and asked thoughtful questions throughout.
One of the highlights of the day was a walking meditation around the grounds. This quiet and reflective activity encouraged students to slow down and be present in the moment—something many found both unusual and surprisingly calming. The peaceful surroundings and gentle pace made it a memorable part of the trip.
Overall, the visit to Amaravati Monastery was a meaningful experience. It offered students a deeper understanding of Buddhist culture and encouraged a sense of inner calm and reflection—something we hope they will carry with them beyond the classroom.
We’re proud of how respectfully and curiously the children engaged with the day, and we thank the staff at Amaravati for their warm hospitality.
