Internal: Superintendent, Emergency Response Team, Principals, Program Manager of Communications and Strategic Initiatives
External: Staff, Students, Parents, Police, Media
Step-by-Step Operations Procedure:
Emergency is reported to the Principal, who notifies the Superintendent.
Superintendent activates response protocol and designates communication responsibilities.
Program Manager of Communications and Strategic Initiatives prepares internal and external messages.
All staff and families are informed using the approved message.
Step-by-Step Communications Procedure:
Internal alerts are sent first (email or in-person depending on severity).
External messages are pushed via Old Saybrook Public Schools app and website.
Social media is updated by the Program Manager of Communications and Strategic Initiatives only.
Regular updates follow, along with a post-incident summary.
