Step-by-Step Operations Procedure:
In emergency situations, only the Superintendent or Chief of Police may speak to the press.
The Program Manager of Communications and Strategic Initiatives prepares and coordinates official messaging with law enforcement.
No other staff, including administrators, are permitted to give public statements or interviews.
Step-by-Step Communications Procedure:
A single public statement is created and approved by the Superintendent and police if applicable.
Press briefings are scheduled and controlled by the Superintendent’s Office.
Media are referred to the official point of contact.
Internal communication ensures staff are aware of who is speaking and when.
