This image is an example of what a teacher has decided to use within her classroom for behavior management. Classroom and behavior management is one of the seven courses you are required to take in order to obtain your license. Within this course you will learn strategies to help you maintain control over the classroom like the example above.
The chart above shows the minimum exam scores that will be accepted in order to obtain license.
The video to the right gives you more information about both exams
The two exams that are required are the Virginia Communication and Literacy Assessment (VCLA) and the Praxis Series Reading for Virginia Educators (RVE). Both of these exams require registration online, links are to the right.
Not only are there requirements for exams but there are also requirements for training in order to receive a teacher’s license in Virginia. Future educators need to complete the awareness training for dyslexia, child abuse recognition and intervention and be CPR certified (Virginia Administrative Code et al., 2006). After you have completed the certification process for each training, print off the certificate.
The image above is an example of the application you are required to fill out for achieving your teachers license. The link to the full application is inserted on the right named " Application for Teachers License in VA".
I believe in order to achieve the license the candidate will have to be very organized with all their information they collect. As Sipe, Williams, Ellis, Patterson, and Baker (2021) stated, verification documents, test scores, and training proof all need to be mailed off with application. If the candidate was well organized, obtaining that information would be easy to comply with. I had a Professor tell me once I completed the training requirements to keep them in a place where I keep all my important documents. This was very beneficial for me because if I am ever questioned about a training criteria I know exactly where my completion certificates are and can provide proof right away.
