How Do You Become Board Certified?
You must be licensed to teach and hold a Bachelor's degree. At least three years of teaching experience is required. To become certified, you must take a test to judge your knowledge on your subject and your knowledge about teaching, build a portfolio, record a classroom video, complete a written analysis, and complete a reflective component. This is a long process designed to make sure that all board certified teachers meet their expectations and to hold them all to a higher standard. Because of this, teachers often say that they learn a lot about the profession of teaching and what it takes to be a good teacher.
