Who am I?
My name is Janiyah Johnson and I was born in Richmond VA. Around the time I was 5 my mother moved me to saginaw MI. At the age of 8 years old I started majorette dancing throughout elementary and middle school. Education has always been my top priority and main focus. When I started middle school I entered myself into our state spelling bee. I seemed to always be the interactive type when it came to expanding knowledge and testing my abilities.
My first school challenges began when my older brother died. Finding his lifeless body with bullet holes triggered me and changed my mindset. I no longer cared for my education I was hurt and depressed. I began acting out in ways I knew wasn't my personality but felt as though I couldnt help it. Majorette dancing kept me sane and in order. I've never stopped dancing because I knew how much it meant to me.
I knew I needed a change and slowly got myself back together every since my education has been my #1 goal. Now I am a Sophomore in college attending Old Dominion University working towards my bachelors degree. I also dance for Exquisites Majorettes here on campus and I honestly feel as though life is great!
