Hi! My name is Abigail Heck, but you can call me Abby! I'm currently attending ODU to pursue a degree in education with a history minor, and I'm currently working as a lifeguard in Virginia Beach. Before we jump into what I hope to achieve and what I hope to become, here are some fun facts about me!
I'm apart of the LGBTQ+ community as I'm pansexual and I'm non-binary (preferred pronouns: she/they)
I have a dance and theater background spanning over 15 years
I have 2 dogs and a 13 year old cat
My personal hobbies include watching anime, listening to various genres of music (personal preference: K-R&B), playing video games, reading, and cooking
I'm a massing Marvel junkie as I grew up with the comics and movies.
I have ADHD, and I've struggled with it all my life.
Over the course of the semester I hope to understand the different methods of teaching and how to become a great teacher. With the field experience as a student teacher, I hope to make a good impression with the teacher I work with, and by the end of the semester I hope to learn the struggles and the difficulties of becoming a teacher. With the experience I've gained this semester, I could learn how to grow as a teacher going forward.
I hope to become a teacher that everyone can look up to, and I want people to take influence from me in the future. As a future history teacher it will be my job to teach history to the new generation of people who will hopefully become teacher or whoever they want to be. I want students to understand that history has a tendency to repeat itself, and teaching history can help prevent the repeat of history. In a class, learning is the most important thing we can take away, and I want to become a source for my students, as well as a person that my students can turn to for advice.
Hi Abby, I really like the layout of your page! When reading it, I noticed how much we have in common. I am also part of the LGBT community, a theatre nerd, and a huge Marvel geek! I look forward to having this class together and hope we both get the opportunity to grow as educators!

Hi Abby, I am also planning on teaching history. Any favorite historical period or area? Personally, I am interested in Medieval history. I agree with you that students need to learn history to avoid repeating the terrible mistakes of the past and to gain wisdom from what we did right! BTW, I love the Medusa background!

Hi Abby! I'm loving the black and white vibe. My bestfriend is now apart of the LGBTQ community so I have been educating myself a little more to obtain background information. As Michael said above, students need to learn history to avoid repeating it. Not only learning history, but understanding history and its importance of not repeating itself. I personally am not a fan of history but all my history teachers have been amazing and I believe you will be also! Hoping for future success. -Arlissa Williams
Hi Abby! I love your unique style and the layout of your page! I can definitely relate to the struggles of ADHD. I was undiagnosed until recently, actually. Surprisingly, it took reading an article I found on Facebook about the signs you don't realize are signs of ADHD, to convince me something was up and the rest is history! Speaking of history, I see that we share a love of it! I like that you brought up that history does tend to repeat itself. As teachers, I think it is SO important we are able to explain effectively to students why history cannot repeat itself and how we should learn and move forward! I am glad we share that viewpoint! I hope you have a great and successful semester!

Hey Abby, I love your author page so much and those pictures of you are beautiful! I'm really happy you talk about your ADHD not a lot of people like to talk about things like that and I'm glad your not shy about it! I also want to be a teacher where people can look up to me. It's important to me that I am open enough to where students know that me and my classroom are a safe place.

Hi Abby, thank you for sharing your beautiful page! I also love Marvel movies, my favorite one being Captain America: Winter Soldier and Black Panther. It seems that we both have a love for history and wish to teach the next generations. We have talked a few times in class, and you seem like an amazing person with an even more amazing personality. Keep up the great work!
