My name is IvyLynn, but practically everyone calls me Ivy. I was born and raised in Manassas, Virginia, a pretty small city. In Manassas, I went to Osbourn high school, which was filled with majority minorities, and I loved it that way. Osbourn is defiantly a big part of who I am today. I also take pride in my family very much; I wouldn't be me without them.
I grew up playing tons of sports, so I am super athletic and competitive. I love to spend my free time watching movies, eating food, hanging with friends, or just being outside; I hate the cold weather though. I love looking at the sky, whether for the clouds, moon, stars, or sunset; it is one of my favorite things.
I know becoming a teacher takes a lot of practical knowledge that needs to be learned. I also know being a teacher is a lot more than just practical work. It is also about becoming emotionally and physically available for your students. I am very thankful to say that I grew up in a very loving and nourishing household, which allows me to be kind, understanding, and available to others who might need it, whether that be my future students or my classmates.
I am looking forward to stepping out of my comfort zone to adapt as many skills as I need to become the best teacher I possibly can. I want to learn different strategies that work for different students. That way, I can meet all of my student's needs. I need to know how to get my students to collaborate with one another and to collaborate with me. I'm looking for any tips or tricks to help me grow as a teacher and a person.
I want to become a teacher who can connect to all my students. I want my students to trust me and feel comfortable coming to me for anything. I will be an understanding teacher and a reasonable one. I will teach all of my students with love, kindness, and intent. I want my students to talk to me like they're my friend, but I also want them to know that I am their superior. I hope my students are involved and engaged in my classroom, and I hope my students grow not only as students but as people throughout their year with me. I hope my future classes positively impact my students for the rest of their lives.
I want to teach progressivism and existentialism in my future classroom. I want my students to collaborate and help one another when appropriate and work on themselves to grow and flourish as a person and student. My students will be like little caterpillars who eventually bloom into butterflies.

Hi Ivy, I could tell you love to stare at the sky from the background images, they are all beautiful BTW. It is a great idea to step out of your comfort zone to learn new strategies and skills to help your future students. Best of luck to you on your journey and career. -Michael Daley
Hi Ivy! I love that you included that your High school was filled with minorities! Coming from a small town myself , we did not see much diversity at all. We also only had a graduating class of 55! I also enjoyed your philosophy. Similarly, my goal is to create a safe place for my students. I want to be an extra source of support and encouragement as well as comfort. I love your page and your creativity! I wish you a safe and successful semester!
