Registration

LHS counselors will visit classrooms for students in grades 8-11 during the months of January and February to discuss registration procedures, to review graduation requirements and to provide updates on classes, programs and educational options. Students will be asked to review the Program of Studies and plan a course of study that will help them achieve their post-secondary goals. Current 8th graders and their parents will be invited to attend Freshman SPIN (Student & Parent Information Night) in February to learn more about the opportunities available at LHS. Parents and students are encouraged to see their counselor during this time period for assistance in curriculum planning.

· Counselors will meet with students during the months of February and March to complete registration. Counselors will check to see that students are making progress towards graduation and will help students select classes that help them reach their post-secondary academic and career goals. Final course selections will be entered on the computer.

· A master schedule will be developed to accommodate students’ requests. Students should plan to keep the classes they select during registration. Once the master schedule is created schedule changes are difficult and often impossible to make. SELECT WISELY!!

· Students with course conflicts or dropped classes will be contacted as soon as possible so they can make alternate selections.

· Counselors will make schedule changes over the summer as needed taking into account course pre-requisites, failed classes, and graduation requirements.

· Schedules for freshmen will be distributed at Frosh Fest (the first day of school for 9th graders.) Schedules for grades 10-12 will be available for pick-up the week before classes begin; watch for the posting of pick-up times.

Through the collaboration of students, parents, teachers and counselors, and with the diversity of opportunities at LHS, all students should be able to develop a plan to meet their educational needs.
