425 – Biology Advanced Placement – 1.5 credit

  • Full year –1.5 Periods - Selected – Required: Biology with “B” or higher and Recommended: Chemistry and Algebra II - Grades 10-12 – Fee for AP test

This course is intended for students who have a genuine interest in biology. The students who enroll in this course should have shown a good aptitude for science in their previous science courses. The course is centered on the four big ideas (evolution, homeostasis, information, and interaction) detailed in the College Board AP Biology curriculum. Lab work for this course is a guided inquiry format. Students enrolled in this course will have an opportunity to refine their skills in the seven scientific practices of the AP Biology curriculum. Students will be expected to complete work outside of scheduled class time and to take responsibility for independent learning. Students must take the Biology Advanced Placement examination upon completion of this course.
